Records held at the Office of the Superintendent
The Office of the Superintendent Registrar holds all birth, adoption, stillbirth, marriage and death records in Jersey, from August 1842 to the present day. And all civil partnership records from April 2012 to the present day.

Terms and conditions for appointments
- Appointments are of 60 minutes duration. Double appointments are not available.
- Appointments must be made in advance by telephone or email and are subject to availability.
- Appointments are one-to-one with a dedicated member of staff who can provide assistance or guidance to the researcher.
- Researchers may request a maximum of 20 registers to be prepared in advance of the appointment.
- Once you have made an appointment, you will receive further information on how to request records in advance of your appointment. We require the name, date and Parish to be able to access the correct registers for your appointment.
- Bookings cannot be transferred to another person.
- Other public appointments may be taking place within the office during the period of the booking, including ceremonies and public registration.
- Pencil only to be used when making notes.
- Strictly no photographs can be taken of the registers.
Indexes to the OSR registers
You can request to look at the marriage, civil partnership and death indexes during your appointment. Certain birth indexes are open to viewing and others will require prior checking by staff to ensure they do not relate to restricted records. Copies of some of the OSR indexes are available upstairs in the Public Library and at the Jersey Archive
